Bug Zapper

New Gadget

Whilst on holiday it was the chosen choice of the mosquito to nibble on M. This was fine by me, however retribution was sought by the one being eaten alive and awake all night wafting arms in the air. (Saved having to put the air con on!)

The nibbling only started about three days before we were due to leave and so I refused to purchase a spray can and pollute the atmosphere and poison the both of us in the process of killing a tiny gnat, allbeit a very nasty biting type of gnat.

We came across a similar product to this

and thereafter, having first swept the room, we at last slept at night.

Since being home it has become a new nightly routine to swat anything that moves, which includes me! Insects are important, so bees are excused along with spiders, but anything else inside our home is fair game!

Milk

Field of Cows

Sometimes we forget where the everyday things we take for granted come from.  Whilst out for a walk around the Stackpole headland we passed this splendid herd.

Cows Grazing or Just Lazing

Come to think of it, the life of a cow isn't too hard.  Wouldn't want to be without the milk they kindly produce though, so my thanks to the cows and the farmers who's work isn't anything but as easy.

Squirrel

I like visitors, well most of them, the ones with fluffy tails are much more welcome than those without!  When I arrived home from work the other day, this cheeky chappie was there to greet me.  Quite brazen in his willingness to pose for the camera too.

Some Saundersfoot Wildlife

Of course there are big debates as to whether the grey squirrel should be wiped out due to it outdoing the native red squirrel.  Don't you think we interfere and do enough harm to nature?  And besides, we still go to war over the planets resources, so who are we to judge if another species are also waging their own survival battles.

Lol

Internet, text talk whatever you want to call it, is so confusing.  lol in particular.  Being a romantic I thought it meant 'lots of love' turns out it means 'laugh out loud' or 'loads of laughs'.

'Laugh out loud' why then do people say 'lol' on the phone, why not just........ laugh out loud?  Duhhhh, it quite takes the humour away! lol x

Listen Hear

Blah, blah, blah “not here to say what you want to hear” said the PM yesterday on behalf of the populace.

Whereas, I only ever hear, what I want to hear!

Monitor

Old TV

It’s what I’m using at the moment. It looks great, a few problems though; like no sound and graphics so big I’m getting to be the reverse of cross eyed. I’m sure there is a medical term for it, feel free to educate me with the technical name, though don’t expect me to be able to pronounce, if one does exist?

Really should set up my own shopping site and look at getting a new monitor. It can be my next project!

Mandolin

The Wandering Mandolin

My name has changed so many times; there are even many ways to spell me, never mind play me.

I’m pretty old now and a little battered and have often and for many years been enclosed and left safe within a case that is as battered as I. Strings missing and un-tuned and not living the purpose for which I was created, but not uncared for; though perhaps not in the way that my maker would have liked, nor me for that matter.

This is the begining of something I started writing about the trials and tribulations of my grandfathers mandolin. I didn't get very far before I forgot all about it. Perhaps one day I shall return to the idea, that's if I remember. It'll probably go the same way as Jacobs Sheep!

Angling

Women of intelligence, who have something to say for themselves are classified as being forceful, assertive and confident.

Women of lesser intelligence are classified as fishwives. My husband claims I fall into the latter. Me thinks he's angling for a slap!

Cycling

Pedal Power v horse power

Locally there has been a lot in the news about cycling on the road, whether abreast or single file, beeping horns, chopping up, common decency and what the law states etc.

All I have to comment on is the fact, having been a cyclist myself, (but who happened to take it for a walk more that pedal it, due to living in a very hilly county I hasten to add) is why; when at great expense to the tax paying public and drivers with properly taxed transportation and where cycle paths have been put in place, do they not use them?

The same question was added in the local news. I await the response, but not with bated breath!

Perhaps a road licence should be implemented for cyclists, a little more revenue for the empty coffers, or at least a fine for those that don't use the cycle paths where they have been provided.

Problem, to bake a cake or not?

I was going to make a cake today.  Well it's wet out so I was having a mad moment.  It passed when I checked cupboard for ingredients.  Flour, marg, sugar and as I didn't have any of the main ingredients I didn't think it economical.

Good Point; put it like this, by not making one, I didn't use the car to go to the shop or use any electricity and no mess or a pile of washing up to clear up.

Bad Point; no cake!

Good Point; non fattening - problem solved.

Web Classes

Basically I need to take some lessons. Perhaps I should look in Amazon for a book that can help a novice like me make some sense as to what I'm actually doing on here. Unfortunately I've forgotten my password to log into the site in order to download a widget to enable me to log in!

I know I'm not logical and obviously I have a tendancy to do things backward as it might of been a good idea to get some lessons, prior to setting up a web site along with this blog site.

Of course there is a lot of advice on line and most freely given, but if you are anything like me you're lost before you start with the jargon, never mind the HTML. Still, take heart that if I can do it, so can you, quicker and better too.

Eventually I'll move forward (well that's the plan)and know what direction I'm going to focus this blog site on, but prepare yourself to having to wait a while and when / if it does happen don't expect anything of high intelligence or sophistication, you'll be lucky to get rational input, but it will be my view and either delightfully frivalous or a tirade of frustration, depending on my mood!

Poem

Constant
-
In lethargy when all relaxed I drift along the shore
Each pulse, each breath, rumbles within my inner core
Distressed when down and lonely, life nothing but a chore
Deep in my darkest heart, a black tempest wants to roar
Dark destructive menaces, tied to seek relief for ever more
-
Day in day out, come high or low, restless, never still
Forever pulled and pushed, beleaguered, ne'er to my will
A howling gale, a whirlwind, a keening sound so shrill
Waves of wrath and passion, a vacant space, no frills
Broiling, wracked n emotive, to some a nervous thrill
-
A gentle rushing gushing, beguiles my troubled thoughts
Serenity and beauty aide and abet, to deny, not as they aught
High reaching aspirations, desires, that often come to naught
Mysterious depths and crevices that are craved at being sought
Secret caverns, within a hidden soul, safe from those that haunt
-
Languorous in constant yearning, that goes so very deep
Endeavoring, by day, for all that lives and trying not to weep,
Governed by the moon and stars, to wash away man's grief
Steadfast, abiding and enduring, a heart rises joyous in a leap
Eternal hope draws in the shore and along it, I majestically sweep.
